Conducting Research in Miyoshi Geopark
Miyoshi Geopark spans the entire administrative areas of Miyoshi City and Higashimiyoshi Town, which include protected zones such as natural parks, cultural heritage sites (cultural assets), and national forests.
If you plan to enter these areas or collect samples, you must obtain the necessary permissions in advance. Some applications may take time to process, so the Miyoshi Geopark Secretariat offers support with the application procedures.
Please consult us at least one month before your intended research date. We also kindly ask that you keep sample collection to a minimum, in order to help preserve the region’s valuable natural and cultural resources for future generations. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Miyoshi Geopark Logo

The Miyoshi Geopark logo features elements that represents the region’s unique landscape and culture: rugged rocks shaped by river currents, the iconic Kazurabashi Vine Bridge, village life on mountain slopes, and Koeguro—a traditional cone-shaped pile of dried kaya straw used as fertilizer.
Together, these symbols reflect how local life has developed in harmony with the area’s geological features.
